Devil's Fingers discovered by Sue~

Sue Morey showed us some photos she took of a very strange fungus she found near St.Clether and has sent some photos for this forum. (Thanks Sue). Its scientific name is Clathrus archeri.

I had never heard of it or seen anything like it so searched around and found this very interesting page on the Kew Gardens web-site Link here Interesting to read that it is introduced and first reported from Cornwall in 1946 but further west, near Penzance.  Sue did not mention any smell but it is related to the common Stinkhorn Phallus impudicus

Sue first saw it last year (the first pictures) and then again this year but in a slightly different place.
